The Drought is Real
Utah has seen Pearl Jam five times: a sweaty club in 1991, two nights at the Delta Center in 1995, Wolf Mountain in 1998, and the E Center in 2009. Then nothing. We’ve checked the calendar. Twice.
While Utah waited, Pearl Jam wrote three more albums, with songs Utah has never heard live. Not to mention an entire generation of fans grew up without ever hearing “Alive,” “Black,” “Daughter,” “Just Breathe,” or “Dark Matter” in person. That’s long enough for a kid to go from crib to learner’s permit without a single Pearl Jam show in the state. We’re not asking for much: one night, one stage, and a whole state singing every word back to you. Salt Lake has the venues, the crowds, and a very long memory.
